Engineer Internship / Manufacturing

The Job

This internship will provide you with a variety of skills and opportunities.  This program is designed to provide students with experience and training in typical day-to-day activities as it pertains to the industry market.  Interns will assist with real projects for real clients and will have the ability to impact real outcomes.  Our internships are paid, full-time and in person.

 

What You Will Do

  • Review and interpret ASME Codes and client specifications to assist the Manufacturing Engineer and
    designer with developing project documents.

    • i.e. ‐ fabrication drawings, design documentation, project controls documents.
  • Compile, program, and output parts lists to be used in project assemblies.
  • Track material inventories and maintain Material Test Report (MTR) documents.
  • Provide support to the shop when issues arise in day‐to‐day manufacturing activities.
    • I.e. – interpret / revise drawings, provide design information, program additional parts, assist
      with estimates, procurement, and other project management tasks.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned to support other business units within InServ.

Position Requirements

  • Must have a working knowledge of basic engineering principles and mathematics.
  • Must show competency in core concepts and methods generally learned in the engineering courses:
    • Statics, Mechanics, Materials
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and documents.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively through email, phone, and verbal interactions.
  • This is a full‐time on‐site position and intended for hands‐on experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with 2D and/or 3D CAD software.
  • Strong spatial reasoning and visualization skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and meet deadlines and goals in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented and self-starter.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and can convey information to both technical and general audiences.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
